A Guide for Chinese Viewers

Maple Gallery is a dual language site. To view the Chinese portion, you must have a BIG5 compatible "double byte manager" installed. The site was designed with TwinBridge v4.0 using BIG5 code, however, any compatible double byte manager should work.

If you are using Netscape, following these steps:

  1. Go to OPTIONS, then GENERAL PREFERENCES
  2. Select the FONTS tab
  3. Choose CHINESE (BIG5) in the FOR THE ENCODING pull down box
  4. Press the CHOOSE FONT button for USE THE PROPORTIONAL FONT
  5. Choose an appropriate Chinese proportional font (ie, Chn FSong, Chn FYuan etc).
  6. Select OK
Now, to start viewing Chinese, follow these steps:
  1. Go to OPTIONS
  2. Select DOCUMENT ENCODING
  3. Select TRADITIONAL CHINESE (BIG5)
If you have followed the above steps, and can see the following line of Chinese text, then you are ready!

PS: The Chinese text may be easier to read if you set your double byte manager to display Chinese in "HIGH QUALITY" mode. Alternatively, you can choose a larger point size for the Chinese text.
